Hi all,

I have one 817 instance on sunOs 5.8. I have observed a strange behaviour .i.e., during startup, it stops at at the prompt 'database mounted' and won't go beyond. But when I start a new session and check the db status, it shows READ WRITE state. No error is shown in the alert logs.

The last entry of alert log is

"SMON: enabling cache recovery
 SMON: enabling tx recovery".

No cdump,udump trace generated.

please suggest a solution.

Thanks,

Viswanath.

Hi Vishwanath,

As per my knowledge this problem seems to be related to Sharedmemory segments and Semaphores, do you checked these kernal parameters wether they are supporting your version or not...?

yes satish.
Infact, the database is running on the same server for last 6 months and recently we have NOT changed the kernel parameters. This problem was not knowne previously and suddenly it showed up.
