Hi, I posted a message before about getting a database to show the € symbol correctly. The sollution which I was given by Thiru worked for our oracle server on windows (setting NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252 in your registry) but I still haven't been able to get it to work in our development environment which is Solaris 8 running Oracle 9.0.1. I have created a database on this server set to use AL32UTF8 and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character sets and it still has problems showing the € symbol. I have tested connecting from our Solaris development server to a windows oracle server (which does store the € symbol coorectly) but it still shows up as a ?. Do you have to have both the Oracle database and the Oracle client set correctly.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sean

I recognize your AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252 from my 9.2.0 on Windows. My 9.2.0 on Solaris has AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 - try that. Please let me know if it works.

Hi Andrew, I have tried setting the NLS_LANG to be this but it has made no difference. Am I setting it correctly?

Thanks for your help
