wat is the difference b/w recover database and alter database recover.

Hi,

"RECOVER DATABASE" is executed in the foreground. You will see the output on-screen (and ALERT.LOG file) and can provide answers to questions (log file location, CANCEL, etc.)

"ALTER RECOVER DATABASE" is executed in the background. Output is written to the ALERT.LOG file and you need to provide answers using the "ALTER DATABASE RECOVER ..." command.
