Hi,

I'm using at home (via a vpn connection) PLSQL Developer (SQL developer tool..) against 2 Oracle 8i Instances and one Oracle 9i Instance.

When I try to log me on the Oracle 8i Instances I receive this ORA message box:

ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or objects does not exist.

But when I log to the Oracle 9i instance, everything is going fine and I got access to my objects and code!

Can someone help me with this?

Thank you very much in advance!

Regards,

Patrick Tahiri.

I have to add that I have installed Oracle Entreprise Manager Console on my PC and also imported tnsname.ora on my pc to the right folder...
It's just working with my Oracle 9i server?! Not with 8i??

I'm not sure whether your TNSNAMES.ORA uses a hostname or IP number as the "host" parameter in the section for the v9.x dataabse.
Sometimes VPN connections don't correctly resolve hostnames. Try replacing the "hostname", if it is used, into an IP address. This may help.
