Hi,

Does anyone have any idea about the below error from oracle forms sqlplus?
TNS-12571: TNS:packet writer failure

I uninstalled and reinstalled oracle forms and oracle 9i client on my machine.
I could able to successfully connect from oracle 9i sqlplus but from oracle forms sqlplus i couldn't.

Before reinstalling, it used to work fine but later on i started getting that error message.

Much appretiate your help.

remove or comment of all the entries in SQLNET.ORA in the serverside and retry again.

Hi,
Thanks very much for the reply.
I have not made any changes to my SQLNET.ora file. And all the entries are already commented out.

I am accessing a remote database schema from my local machine which has both oracle 9i client and oracle forms developer. It works fine if i access from oracle 9i client but doesn't work from oracle forms sqlplus. And my tnsnames.ora is same as oracle9i client tnsnames.ora

9i oracle client and forms client should be installed in different homes and will have different tnsnames.ora .
check for the sqlnet.ora in all clients and in server.
i beleive you might have done all the above.
I have not worked with forms. 
Have u patched the forms to the latest release?
please do that. 
It seems only 6i with patch 14 onwards is certified with 9.2 database .

Dear

i have one problem occured in oracle 7 version
and i am using novel versions like
3.11 / 4.11 / 5.00 with spx not tcp/ip
windows 98 ver.

but i am facing TNS:- 12571 packet writer failure
and some time not occured this problem & also hanging
because when the users are connecting to database after
5 to 10 minutes and then hanging.
i hope you will give me the solutions for that my problem.
