We are in the process of migrating our Oracle 7.3.4 databases to 8.1.7 and 9.2.x. What is the order for 8.1.7 and what is the order to get to 9.2.0?

Please , if more than one person can confirm on this it would be great. I don't want to accidently do the wrong steps and mess things up.

Last time I did a migratio for a oracle 7.3.4 database, I did the following:

7.3.4 -> 8.0.5 -> 8.1.7. (Is this really required? )

So If I'm correct for 9.2.x , is the folloiwng sequence correct?

7.3.4 -> 8.0.5 -> 8.1.7 -> 9.2.x

Or can I directly go from 8.0.5 to 9.2.x?

Please clarify.

Thanks
Tony

your sequence
7.3.4 -> 8.0.5 -> 8.1.7 -> 9.2.x
would be the recomended method if you use conventional upgrade utilities ( scripts or odma).
depending on data and complexitiy of database, you can just use export / import also.
we do a weekly flush of data from 805 hp-ux to 920 solaris database in RACs using export/import. But in this case, I handle only the data ( tables and indexes). NO code/plsql stuff are involved or is migrated.
IF THERE ARE CUSTOM CODE involved, i always use ODMA for 817 to 920
