hello

i m going to install Oracle 9i on Win 2k Server.
previously (in August 2002) when attempted all went fine ut while creating database(default) Oracle reported an error right now i have forgotten the error message. but if i cant do it successfully i will tell here. but i want to know are there any settings required prior installing Oracle 9i?

Yes.

Create ORA_DBA group and assign it to the user installing Oracle software.

If you are creating the DB manually, then you need to have the ...adminSID directories, the PWD"SID".ora file and the init"SID".ora in the ...database directory first. Not clear how you created the DB???

If you are installing Oracle 9i, you will see couple of error messages poping up....but just ignore'em.
