Good afternnon,
I need to ask a question, I am running oracle 7.3. I created 3 different databases on the same NT server. I continue to recieve TNS cannot resovle service name errors. I have already modified the tnsmaes.ora file. Do i need to create seperate listner.ora files? or do I just add the diffenet SIDs in the same listener file?.

the error is generated when on a machine running multiple databases you try to startup a database without shutting down the earlier open database...
restart the machine and start the default database then shut it down and exit......then from command prompt give command SET ORACLE_SID='db_name' you wish to start....
then login to svrmgrl or sqlplus and startup the database....this should work fine
