Hi, I hope someone can help me with the following question. We have an 8.1.7.0.0 8i Standard Edition system on Win2K Server. We need to patch it to at least 8.1.7.3 (because of appliction requirements). Now I am inclined to just load the lastest pachset, that is 8.1.7.4
So I have a choice of patching to 8.1.7.3 or 8.1.7.4
Does anyone possibly have a comment on this, or does anyone have a bad experience with 8.1.7.3 or 8.1.7.4
on the Win2K server platform. Are there any drawbacks on loading 8.1.7.4?
Basically my question is: what is better?
Any tip or comment is very helpfull !!
Thanks !!

I cannot comment on the patchset for 817 on NT.

But keep in mind that all Oracle patchsets are inclusive of all previous levels, i.e patch 4.0 will include all of 3.0 and new ones. I have not heard of any Oracle patchsets that fixes something while at the same time break something (like most of the NT patchsets do). I would say, if you need to patch this version, go for the highest highest level 4.0.

Good luck.
