Hi,

I have a database 8.1.7.0.0 running in my linux system .It has a database character(NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET) as WE8DEC .

I am not able to change the database character set of this to a lower character set.

So, i plan to create another database on the same server with different character set.

What is the step by step procedure for doing this.

you can use dbassist utility. Just go to command line and type dbassist and it should come up. One of the steps allows you to change default nls character set.
