Hi,
I hope someone can help me with the following question.
We use Oracle 8i 8.1.6 on sun hardware (2 cpu 450mhz).
Now we MUST (orders from the brass) migrate to Intel platform Compaq (2 cpu 900 mhz) with Win2K. Now my question is, how do we "migrate" the licensing of the Oracle installation?
Any tip or comment is highly appreciated !!
Thanks!!!

You will have to get in touch with your oracle sells rep and they will have to fill out the standard forms to get this done, relatively painless.
Depending on the type of license you have now, e.g. UPU, processor or user, you should be able to move to the intel platform without coughing up any more cash.

good luck.

The new licensing is based on CPU ($40,000/cpu). So your total cost should be the same but the OS is different. You will need to get in touch with your sales rep.

My guess, in case your old pricing is not based on the CPU, your new one will be.
